Readings come from Open-Meteo, which blends several national models (ECMWF, ICON, GFS and regional high-resolution runs), and fall back to national services — MET Norway, NWS in the US, DWD Bright Sky in Germany, Environment Canada and the Australian BOM — whenever a request cannot be served there. Accuracy depends on the place and how far ahead you are looking: tomorrow is more certain than day seven. Every screen shows how old its reading is, so you can always judge a number instead of trusting it blindly.

Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no API key to obtain. The site is built to run entirely inside free tiers, which is why it caches aggressively and spreads requests across several providers instead of calling one of them for everything. There are no ads on the site as it stands.

Open Settings, find the "Weather Alerts" card, and allow notifications when your browser asks. Alerts are worked out in your browser from the reading you are looking at, so they always match the data on screen: extreme heat above 40 °C or a heat advisory above 35 °C, extreme cold below -20 °C or a cold advisory below -10 °C, extreme wind above 100 km/h or a warning above 60 km/h, UV above 10 or high above 7, thunderstorms, heavy snow showers, and freezing rain or ice pellets. They appear in the app and, with permission granted, as a system notification while a page is open.

Anywhere. More than 240,000 places are bundled with the site, so suggestions appear as you type without waiting for a server. Anything outside that index is looked up through the site's own geocoding endpoint, and coordinates can be typed directly. Lookups are cached for a week and shared between visitors, so a place only has to be found once.

Current conditions refresh on a 12-minute window and the forecast bundle on a 60-minute window. Those windows are shared between visitors: if fifty people open the same city, the data is fetched once. That is what keeps the site free, and it is why you may see a reading that is a few minutes old rather than seconds old — the age is always shown.

Yes. Use the bookmark control on any weather card and the place appears in the bookmarks rail. Bookmarks are kept in your own browser, never uploaded, and can be removed one at a time or cleared entirely from the rail.

Partly, and deliberately. The site itself is cached in your browser, and the last reading you saw stays available for up to 24 hours with its age labelled. New data needs a connection. What the site will not do is present an old reading as if it were current.

Three ways: the °C/°F control in the header, the "u" key anywhere on the page except while typing in a field, or Settings → Temperature Unit. Your choice is stored in your browser and applied to every temperature in the app.

Yes — it is a progressive web app. On iPhone or iPad use Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android and desktop browsers use the install icon in the address bar or the browser menu. Once installed it opens full-screen without browser chrome, and the cached pages keep working with a poor connection.

Only what fetching weather requires. Coordinates are sent to the weather provider that answers, and the site's shared cache stores an entry rounded to roughly a kilometre so visitors near each other reuse one lookup. The app keeps no IP addresses and no location history — rate limiting lives in memory and disappears with the server instance — and bookmarks or cached readings never leave your browser. Clearing site data removes them.

Any current browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, as well as the Chinese engines (360, QQ, UC, Baidu and Sogou browsers) — the page carries the WebKit rendering hint those browsers look for. No extension or plugin is needed. JavaScript is required for live weather, because the pages fetch it after they load.

Use the contact page and include the place, roughly when you saw it, and what looked wrong — a temperature, a condition, a forecast. The values come from the providers listed above, so the more precise the report, the easier it is to act on. If the reading is already labelled as a few minutes old, refreshing normally brings a newer one.
